My friends and I are usually in a team, but sometimes they can’t be online at 3 in the morning to play something with me. So, I turn on my gaming console or PC and load up some single player e-sports games. Usually this is where I end up alone against other people around the world.
Hearthstone the Card Game
I started playing Hearthstone way back when it was still in beta. I know all ins and outs of this game. It’s a card game where you play against single opponents. It’s one against one to put it simply. There are also no audiences or teams to speak of. You have to compile a deck of cards that can be obtained through card packs. These packs can be earned just by playing a game or buying them with your real world money. If you are really looking for an edge, you could spend hundreds of dollars on this game. However, the game is free to play which means you can play it without spending money. Hearthstone is a polished title and very popular among Blizzard’s World of Warcraft players. You can play this game on your phone or tablet or even a computer. It works perfectly everywhere.
Starcraft – Real Time Strategy
Real time strategy games are in decline but Blizzard has a really loyal fan base. Thousands of players come back for more starcrafting. Strategy is all about managing resources and taking over the fields controlled by other players. There are 3 different races to choose from but they are extremely well balanced. It’s only a matter of practicing enough with one of them to learn their strengths and weaknesses and how to use them to your advantage. I heard people spending days and nights playing this game. I would recommend getting Starcraft 2 with all of it’s expansions for access to story modes which are totally worth going through.
This game is partly free to play. You can download and play the multiplayer component for free from the Blizzard Launcher (previously known as battle.net). So you have no excuse to give it a try for yourself and upset a lot of gamers, some of whom could also be in a different time zone. Just kidding, there are different regions such as North America and Europe so you should pick your own continent for minimum lag.
Games such as Mortal Kombat, Injustice 1 and 2 and Street Fighter V all have a multiplayer component. When you have nobody next to you on the couch, you can dive into their online component for maximum fun. Thanks to vast popularity of these games, there is no shortage of good players. Good luck!
